Hummus

Base:
Chick Peas
Olive Oil
Garlic
Salt

You can use canned or dried Chick Peas/Garbanzo Beans. If you use the canned ones, you are ready to go, if you use the dried, follow the cooking instructions on the bag first. Then take the amount you want to start with and blend them in your food processor, adding a little water, and Olive oil to make a smooth bean dip. You then add Minced Garlic and Salt to taste. This is a very simple recipe because there really is no measuring and no way to mess it up. If you go far one way, just add more of the other ingredient…Now to add flavors….

Option1:
Cilantro & Lime

Chop Fresh Cilantro and Squeeze 1-2 Limes and add to mixture. You may blend a little more to chop the cilantro even finer. Save a slice of lime and sprig of cilantro for a garnish.

Option 2:
Roasted Red Bell Peppers

When roasting the bell peppers you quarter the peppers and leave the skins ON. Place them skin up on a roasting pan and drizzle with olive oil, place on low heat in the oven (about 250). Let them roast for about 45 minutes. Take them out of the oven and peel the skins off of the peppers. Then blend the pepper into the Hummus Base. It should take 1-2 peppers for a full flavor. Save one quarter to slice thinly for a garnish

Option 3, 4, 5— The options are endless!

When serving hummus, you traditionally put a puddle of olive oil onto the top of it (kinda like your gramma served her mashed potatoes with a big hunk of melted butter)

ENJOY!
