Sweet Tea

I am surprised by the number of people who LOVE sweet tea, but don’t know how to make it.  So here it is folks.  A “recipe”.  I honestly have to say that I am not sure exactly how much sugar I use, so I promise to revise this once I figure out my perfect measurement, but for now, this is what I do.

What you will need:

2 gallon pitcher

5 tea bags

1 1/2 c sugar

Boil some water on the stove in the tea pot. put the sugar in the bottom of the pitcher. hang the bags over the pitcher and when water is boiling pour the water over the tea bags. let the bags sit in the water and stir the sugar until it is dissolved. Fill the rest of the way with cold water. Let the bags sit in the water for 15-20 minutes.  Refrigerate and/or serve over lots of ice.

Great tip by grandma taught me, after the water comes to a boil, turn the water off, tie the tea bags together by the strings and let them sit in the water for ten really makes a ton of difference if you prefer strong tea! when thats done ring the tea bags out, and then melt the sugar in that mixture…I prefer super strong tea so this is my favorite way of doing it! 🙂
