Pot Roast (7-8 months & up)
1 Ribeye Steak
1/2 bag of baby carrots
5-6 Small Red (“New”) Potatoes
2 Cloves of Garlic Minced
Put the ribeye & Garlic in a pot on the stove, with about 3-4 cups of water. You can add a teaspoon of A1 if you want, I do, it adds a bit of flavor, but not too much salt etc. If you are trying to stay super pure, I would leave that out. Bring it to a simmer, cover and turn down, just letting it cook for a few hours, then adding in your carrots and and potatoes and letting them cook a few more hours, just like you would a regular roast, not boiling, just warm slow cooking. once the veggies are cooked, pull the meat out and puree it in your processor with a bit of the cooking liquid. You want the meat to be super pureed, like pudding. Ribeyes do this best because of the high fat content. If necessary, add a little veggie to it to help smooth it out. once you get this consistency, mash your veggies with a fork to the desire chunkiness. You may need to remove some of the potato skins to prevent choking. Mix the two together and portion out!
*TIP- I buy some Gerber food in the plastic containers… I re use these and they are great for freezing. Once you get to to three meals a day, it’s hard to get so much variety, cause you have 2 portions per meal etc. Not saying it isn’t possible..just a lot of work. I typically do Gerber breakfast cereals, and one of their options for lunch or dinner. So at this age we did two gerber two homemade a day… All that to say…their containers are great to use for portions and freezing!
